Enable Us to Empower the Deaf Communities in India

Greetings from National Association of the Deaf (NAD) which is a is a non-governmental, not for profit organization, launched in December 2005, dedicated to empowering and promoting the rights / quality of life of the 18 million Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals across India. It is run by the executive board consisting of hardworking and determined deaf professionals from various parts of India. NAD relies on the support it receives not only from its members, but also society at large.

We had made our stand firmly and gained the approval of Shri. Narendra Modi in making India Sign Language Research & Rehabilitation Centre (ISLRTC) an autonomous body. To this end, we are in progress of ensuring that the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Bill gets passed in the Parliament and the provision of Driving Licenses for the Deaf.

Some of the day-to- day activities include: coordinating activities relating to hearing loss on a national basis; operating youth leadership camps in various parts of the country; providing consultation and acting as a link between government agencies and the Deaf communities; researching and disseminating information on deafness to the Government and the general public as well as empowerment of deaf women who are doubly disadvantaged, and training camps for the deaf youth. You can refer to the Project section of our website for more details.

With the nomination of Mr.Alok Kejriwal as Patron and Mr. Aqil Chinoy as Head of Technology Expert Committee on April 2016, NAD is now strengthening its foundation in order to move forward towards the goal of becoming "One-Stop Centre" for the deaf people in India.

Our first step towards this goal was the complete rennovation of the old website. We are now pleased to say that this is the new website you are currently viewing which is very informative compared to the old website and we will be adding more information as we go through time. Our next step is the esablishment of Expert Committee specialized in different fields that carter to the needs of the deaf individuals, and for this, we will be recruiting more deaf/hearing professionals to help us in strengthening our mission.

With the lots of changes and advancement of NAD's services for the deaf, we are in need of the financial support. Companies and individual contributing their donations to NAD will get the benefit of tax-write off against Form 80G of Income Tax. We, the committee members of National Association of the Deaf and on the behalf of the deaf community in India, sincerely request for your support by means of sponsorship to enable us to achieve our goals. With gratituade for your support, we will be proud to display your logo on our website.
